In this article, we'll guide you through the process of extracting data from PDF documents with Silverfin Assistant. This feature allows you to seamlessly populate templates with data from your PDF files, streamlining your workflow and enhancing accuracy.

Key information
- Feature is available for selected templates and is indicated by a banner prompting you to upload a document.
- In some templates, the banner will only be shown if it doesn't contain any data yet. If you want to reupload the PDF, remove the content from the template first.
- You can upload multiple documents at once.
How to extract data from documents?
Upload Your PDF document
When banner is available in the template, click the button 'Upload'.
Document requirements
- Format: PDF only.
- Maximum length: 15 pages.
- Maximum file size: 20MB.
In some templates the banner will only be shown if it doesn't contain any data yet.
Data Extraction
Silverfin Assistant will extract data from your PDF and present a proposal for your review.
Review and adjust data
- proposed changes will be highlighted with a purple background to distinguish them from existing data.
- hover over or click values in the template to highlight and scroll to the corresponding data in the PDF.
- use the top banner to toggle between side-by-side document views or to accept/decline the proposed changes.
Accept the proposal
The proposed data will not be saved to the template or any connected templates, exports, or Insights until the proposal is accepted.
This functionality is available for all offices already using Silverfin Assistant. Currently, this works for:
- VAT closing balance reconciliation
- Bank Loans account template
- Hire Purchase account template
