This article explains how the Silverfin integration on Zapier works, what you need to get started, and how authentication works.

Table of contents

What is Zapier?

  • Zapier is a no-code automation platform that lets you connect thousands of apps and build your own automated workflows, without any code required. You can set up triggers and actions across your favourite tools so that repetitive tasks happen automatically in the background.
  • The Silverfin integration on Zapier allows any Zap you build to interact directly with the Silverfin API, meaning you can push data into or pull data from Silverfin as part of a wider automated workflow. This is particularly useful for firms that want to connect Silverfin to other tools in their tech stack, such as CRM systems, practice management software, or communication platforms.
  • You can view the Silverfin integration on Zapier here: Silverfin on Zapier

Set-up

The Silverfin integration on Zapier is built and hosted by Zapier. This means there is no additional setup required within Silverfin itself. You’ll manage and configure your Zaps entirely within your Zapier account.

What you'll need: API access

  • To connect Silverfin to Zapier, you'll need a Silverfin API key. This allows Zapier to authenticate securely with your Silverfin environment.
  • For full details on how to access the Silverfin API and generate your API credentials, please refer to our guide here:  Getting Started with the Silverfin API

Authentication and security

  • When setting up the Silverfin connection in Zapier for the first time, you will be prompted to log in to your Silverfin account to authorise the integration.
  • This authorisation flow ensures that access is granted at the firm level and tied to your Silverfin credentials, so only authorised users can approve the connection. You will not need to share your password with Zapier directly.
