Use the Miscellaneous income template to bring into the computation income (or losses) that does not fall within one of the main categories such as trading, property, loan relationships or chargeable gains. This is income chargeable as miscellaneous income — broadly, the sweep-up category for other taxable income.

When should I use this template?
Use it where the company has income that is taxable but does not belong to another income template — for example certain casual or one-off receipts chargeable to corporation tax as miscellaneous income.
Before you start
A business type must be selected in the Business type section of the Return information template. If none is selected, the template shows a warning and cannot calculate.
How the analysis works
Enter the miscellaneous income (or loss) as a value with a description. Where a long period of account applies, the amount is apportioned across the two accounting periods.
What flows through to the rest of Corporation Tax?
The miscellaneous income feeds the Taxable income computation as income of that category. A miscellaneous loss is relieved only against miscellaneous income under the relevant rules.
Where the data comes from
- The miscellaneous income (or loss) is entered here manually; it is not pulled from another schedule.
- The amount feeds the Taxable income computation, and a miscellaneous loss feeds the Losses memorandum (relieved only against miscellaneous income).
Frequently asked questions
What counts as miscellaneous income?
Income chargeable to corporation tax that does not fall within a specific category such as trading, property, loan relationships, dividends or chargeable gains.
How is a miscellaneous loss relieved?
Miscellaneous losses are generally relieved only against miscellaneous income, so they are kept separate from other income.
