Effective communication is essential for collaboration and productivity within Silverfin. With the communication feature, you can effortlessly exchange messages, make notes, and manage tasks within a file. This article provides a detailed guide on how to use communication effectively, manage visibility, and make the most of the available features.

Communicate at different levels within a file in Silverfin

  • All Communication Tab: Here, you will find an overview of all communication activities on your file's landing page.

  • Communication Panel: You can quickly access specific communication within a file by clicking the button in the upper right corner. This opens the panel on the right side.

  • Specific Reconciliation or Account Template: It is possible to communicate specifically about certain parts of the work file.

Adding Messages (Notes and Tasks)

You can add messages in two ways:

  1. File Level: Ideal for your general communication within a specific file. 
  2. Specific Reconciliation or Accounts: Allows for detailed communication regarding specific parts of the work file.

Steps to add a Message:

  1. Open the Communication Module: Click on 'Add a message' and select a 'note' or 'task'.
    • Notes: Use for comments or starting conversations.
    • Tasks: Assign tasks to users or groups, contributing to the workflow within the file.
  2. Manage Notes and Tasks in Two Ways:
    • Current Period: Shows notes or tasks for the current period, handy for time-sensitive reminders!
    • Pinned: Maintains visibility across all periods, with the flexibility to turn off at any time.

Completed tasks are archived in the "completed tasks" section, which you can find in the sidebar.

Mentions and Visibility

Messages can be targeted using '@' mentions:

  • @username: sends a message directly to an individual and appears in their file inbox.
  • @external: sends a message to all external users, including Pulse users and external collaborators.
  • @internal: directs a message to internal employees following the file.

Default Visibility

Messages without specific mentions are visible to all internal users but do not generate email notifications.
