This article explains how to connect Silverfin with Business Central (BoCount Dynamics required) to synchronise bookkeeping data at the firm level. Once the connection is established, any changes made in Business Central will sync with Silverfin.

What do I need to know before I set up the Business Central sync?

  • Only users with admin rights can set up synchronisation at the firm level.
  • BoCount Dynamics is required to set up the sync.
  • The Tenant ID, Client ID and Client Secret can be provided to you by BoCount Dynamics.
  • A direct connection to Business Central will not work if the client_url is in the format https://businesscentral.dynamics.com/:UUID/:DATABASE_NAME.
Use https://api.businesscentral.dynamics.com/v2.0/:UUID/:DATABASE_NAME instead, where v2.0 is the current API version (subject to change).

How do I set up the connection with Business Central at the firm level?

To establish the connection with Business Central, follow these steps:

  1. On the firm overview screen, click the Syncs tab.
  2. Click the Add new sync button and choose Bookkeeping sync.
  3. From the drop-down menu, choose (BoCount Dynamics required) and click Connect.
  4. Fill in the relevant fields.

Once the synchronisation exists at the firm level, it can be linked to a client file. Linking does not require admin rights: both Admin and Staff contributor users can do this. See How to set up synchronisation with Business Central in a file?
