What is the benefit of following a file?

If someone mentions @internal in a note or to-do in the file you are following, everyone who follows the file will receive a notification. This makes it easier to list a group of users in one post.

In addition, you can also allow the Pulse user to start a message via the Pulse. As long as no one is following the file, the Pulse user will not be able to send messages. This is because otherwise the messages could not be reported to anyone.

If you use Insights, following a file is also useful. You can then apply a filter with "file followed by..." to only display the search results of your files.
