What is an Account Template?
Account templates structure the reconciliation of accounts in Silverfin. They determine the layout of the reconciliation page, how information is organised, and where user input is required. Templates can:
- Automatically pull values from the balance sheet or income statement
- Highlight where input is needed
- Ensure consistent and efficient reconciliations across your firm
When you start using Silverfin, default account template allocations are set based on best practices. Administrators can define which templates are applied to specific accounts, but users can adjust the template for any account in a client file if needed.
Steps to Change an Account Template
- Go to the relevant account and relevant period.
- Click 'Actions' button and choose 'Edit' to modify the account settings.
- Open the account template dropdown menu.
- Choose the appropriate template for this account.
- Click 'Save' to apply the new template.
What should I do if previously entered data is missing?
- Data Visibility: When switching account templates, previously entered data may no longer be visible.
- Data Is Not Lost: The data remains in the database, but if the custom variable names in the new template do not match those in the previous one, the system will not display the old data.
- Restoring Previous Data: If needed, you can switch back to the previous template to restore the original view of your data.
- Previous and subsequent periods: For previous and subsequent periods, account templates are only automatically updated for periods where no data has been entered yet. If data already exists in the template for a specific period, the template will not be automatically changed.
