Stars in workflows help identify which templates in a workflow need control or further details. Read on to learn how stars influence workflow efficiency and how to use them effectively.

Table of contents

Key information

  • Stars highlight accounts or reconciliations that require additional control or explanation.
  • If a template isn't needed for a specific file, you can unstar it.
  • When a template has a star, a reconciliation status icon will also appear. There are two primary types:
    • Green Dot: Indicates a complete reconciliation.
    • Red Triangle: Indicates an incomplete reconciliation. The details do not align with the general ledger and require corrective action.

Linking and Exporting

  • A star allows users to export templates or link the account or reconciliation to other accounts or reconciliations.
  • If a template does not have a star, it will not appear in the export screen or the dropdown menu for linking to other accounts/reconciliations.

Workflow Progression

Starred reconciliations and accounts directly influence the workflow progress bar that indicates your overall task completion.

Starring Principles

  • If a previous period exists, starred templates from that period will be carried over to subsequent periods.
  • If you choose to remove a star, it will not appear in subsequent periods.
  • If no previous period exists (i.e., for a new file), reconciliations that are auto-added into the workflow on the firm level will automatically be starred.
  • Locked periods are not affected by changes in starring.

Understanding and effectively using stars enhances workflow efficiency, ensures accurate reconciliations, and streamlines linking and exporting processes.
