Silverfin gives you flexibility in how you display reports. You can choose to show all levels expanded or collapse specific groups to keep the view more compact.

This article explains how to adjust the settings and how these choices affect exports.

Adjusting collapse and expand settings in the report template

  1. Go to Reports section and open the report you want to adjust.
  2. Select Actions button, followed by Edit report at the top of the page. Note: You can only edit the report when it is unlocked. Locked reports can only be modified at firm level by an admin user.
  3. Scroll down to the structure of the report where you see arrows next to each group.
  4. Use the arrows to choose whether each group should be collapsed or expanded by default.
  5. Select Save report at the top of the page when you are done.

These settings determine how the report will open and how it will be exported unless you choose otherwise.

Viewing the report on the file level

When you are viewing the report inside a specific file, you can  switch between collapsed and expanded views. This affects your screen view only and does not update the export or the report settings.

Export behaviour - PDF

  • When exporting a report, Silverfin follows the collapse and expand settings defined in the report template. If certain groups are collapsed in the template, they will remain collapsed in the Excel export.
  • If you prefer to see all levels expanded in your export, you can override the template settings by selecting the Expand report option during export. This will display all rows fully expanded.
  • It is not possible to export a fully collapsed report if everything is expanded in the report template. To export collapsed groups, ensure these are configured in the report settings first.

Export behaviour  - Excel

When exporting a report to Excel, Silverfin mirrors the collapse and expand settings set in the report template. If specific groups are collapsed in the template, they will remain collapsed in the Excel file.
